Not Ready To Move To Retirement Living?
At Silver Lining Senior Advisors we realize that retirement living may not be an option now or in the future. If this is the case, we want to ensure you or your loved one can age in place safely. Completing a home safety assessment is crucial for older adults to live safely in their homes for as long as possible and to prevent future injuries.
How Does It Work?
Conduct a baseline assessment of the exterior and interior of your home to determine potential fall risks and safety hazards.
A plan for fall prevention and home safety is provided.
Modifications are suggested along with a list of prescreened and vetted providers who can complete these tasks.
Anyone can fall. But as we age, our risk of falling becomes greater. Approximately one-third of adults age 65 years or older fall in their home each year, resulting in injury, long-term disability and premature loss of independence. By the year 2030, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates the cost related to these kinds of injuries to be nearly $100 Billion annually.
Understanding what causes falls is very important. Most falls are caused by a combination of risk factors such as poor balance, decreased bone and muscle strength, reduced hearing or vision, and unsafe conditions in and around your home. With the help of a health care provider and a home safety assessment, you can take an active role in preventing falls by recognizing and addressing your health-related risk factors and any fall risks or safety hazards around your home environment.
